How age is calculated

Age is calculated from today's date back to your date of birth. A full year counts only when the same month and day has been reached — so if your birthday is December 31 and today is December 30, you haven't yet completed that year. The calculator uses the same logic that courts, insurers, and government agencies use to determine age.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my age sometimes show one less year than I expect?

If today is before your birthday this year, you haven't yet completed that year. For example, if your birthday is November 15 and today is November 14, you're still technically the age you were last year — your birthday is tomorrow.

Does it account for leap years?

Yes. The calculator uses actual calendar dates, so February 29 birthdays are handled correctly — in non-leap years, the closest date (February 28 or March 1) is used depending on convention.

Is my date of birth stored anywhere?
